Llama Naturals Multivitamin
Last month I started giving Payson a multivitamin. He’s a good eater thankfully but I wanted something to give him a little bit of a boost with fruits and veggies right now. I researched several kids vitamins and I wanted to share my findings.
We ended up going with Llama Naturals! My goal with this post is to give you some info so you can know what to look for/look out for!
First let’s talk about synthetic vs real food supplements. There is a time and place for synthetic but I prefer whole food sources in general. They are more bioavailable and God created our food with the perfect co-factors to be eaten together and I just love that and try do eat as intended to the best of my ability.
Here are a few posts on synthetic vs real food supplements.

Food Based vs Synthetic Supplements: Which Is Better? - Flourish
I take beef liver myself but it’s hard to do that with a kiddo because of taste- even hiding it in foods or using ancestral blends of meats- so I’m personally okay with using a multivitamin for Payson right now. If that’s what you do- go you! That’s awesome.
Supplements should not be a substitute for eating whole, real foods with lots of variety but I also know we don’t always get our full serving of fruits/veggies a day so supplements help fill gaps.
I looked at 7 different brands and compared them. I’m not going to name them because I don’t think it’s necessary to call them out but I will share some ingredients below that were in the 6 I didn’t choose so you can see what I personally was wanting to avoid. If you’d like me to check out a label feel free to shoot me a message!
I was looking for a chewable or gummy so all of the ones I looked at were in that form.
Ingredients I wanted to avoid
Synthetic vitamins
Added sugars or fake sugars. A few of these had sugar or syrup as the first ingredient.
Retinyl palmitate- synthetic vitamin A specifically- this is a debated ingredient but for me it’s not one I’m comfortable using
Natural flavors
Citric acid
Synthetic dyes
Folic acid
Wax coatings
MLM memberships/auto shipments
Prebiotic fibers added
Fish oils
I landed on Llama Naturals and here’s why:
USDA certified organic- not a perfect certification by any means but a good start
No added sugars
Predominately organic fruit and veggie blend
Nothing synthetic
<2% organic flavor only
No colorings
3rd party tested for metals, nutrient content, yeast and mold
Good price!
Slow cooked on low heat to retain higher % of phytonutrients
No additional iron
I tried these when we first got them in 😛 & they taste delicious! They didn’t stick to my teeth either which is nice. Payson seems to like them so far as well and he asks for one every day.
