INSTAGRAM ROUNDUP MARCH 2019-MAY 2019
Hi friends! For those of you that follow me on Instagram, you've seen these posts. For my new friends- hi! I have decided to try to do a roundup of my posts every month on here for those that don't have Instagram. If you do have Instagram, I would LOVE for you to give me a follow @toxinfreebp. I share so much over there and a lot of it is on stories! I'm so passionate about sharing what I have learned about non-toxic living & showing you how I do this daily and also incorporate Young Living oils. In the future these posts shouldn't be this long, but since this first roundup covers a few months it's a bit lengthy!
I'm always here to help with any questions so please feel free to reach out at any time! :)
Since I’ve revamped this page a little bit this week I thought I’d do a little introduction. 👋🏼 Hi I’m Bayley! I live in Houston, TX with my husband. We’ve been married for about a year and a half now. 💗 We are parents to the sweetest dog Bagel & we’re trying to grow our family but have gone through some hardships. (More on that later)
I’ve lived in Texas my whole life except for 4 years in Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner 👆🏼). I created this page at first to share Young Living products with my friends and family outside of my personal page but I use so many more “clean” products other than YL that I wanted to be able to share those as well. I also wanted to share some clean eating tips + products. You can start your Young Living journey through me though! I started my non-toxic journey in October of 2015 after finally getting fed up with some health issues- mainly my hormones. I was also told I have the mthfr mutation which has made a huge impact on how I live. By listening to podcasts and doing a lot of research on my own I’ve developed a little wealth of knowledge on how to be a better consumer. I do not have any type of medical or science or nutrition degree but I want to show YOU how to eat clean + swap out products to cleaner ones like an “average” person like myself. 😉
Welcome to my page! I hope you benefit from this information I share!
Let’s clear the air here!
How many of you use Febreze to rid your house of stinky odors? No judgment here if you do but let me give you a better option. The problem with Febreze is one of the ingredients is “fragrance”. No big deal, right? Wrong! Fragrance =unknown chemicals. One of the reasons I switched to clean products was to get away from the unknowns in my products. I was determined to heal my body and fix my hormones. To do that I need to get rid of chemicals in traditional products that mess with your hormones.
Purification oil is a much better option to make your house smell fresh. Put a few drops in your diffuser to get rid of any unwanted odors. Bonus: this can also be put down kitchen sinks as well to get rid of any garbage disposal smells.
How do you freshen up your house? #toxinfreebp
Did you grow up in a JIF home? 🥜🥜 I basically grew up eating peanut butter sandwiches daily.
Today I want to share a better peanut butter option. Note this is a better option- but not the BEST option. The best would be to grind my own peanuts but that’s just not my thing right now. Making changes doesn’t mean you are perfect! It’s all about making slight changes in the right direction.
I’ve been buying Justin’s brand peanut butter and loving it. Compared to JIF original I find it to be a better option and here is why:
JIF has added sugars which I’m trying get away from. There are 3 grams of sugar per serving in JIF and 2 grams in Justin’s. JIF adds sugar and molasses to their peanut butter. Justin’s contains all natural sugars.
JIF adds salt and Justin’s does not. JIF has 140mg of salt per serving and Justin’s only has 25 mg.
JIF has mono and diglycerides which are emulsifiers. They keep the oil from separating. Google those terms & food babe and you will see an article on these ingredients and why they are bad.
Justin’s only contains peanuts and palm oil which is why it’s a better option than JIF. It would be great if it didn’t have palm oil, but like I said above, it’s all about baby steps forward.
Are there any other peanut butter lovers out there?
Baby wipes are so multifunctional. I use Young Living’s Seedlings wipes to take my makeup off every single day. One wipe will take off my full face of makeup. 👌🏼 I also use them for any other random time I need a baby wipe for whatever reason.
If you use baby wipes or makeup wipes go scan them on the Think Dirty or EWG app and see where they land. I did a quick search and found Pamper’s baby wipes have fragrance in them and Neutrogena makeup remover wipes that I used to use have parabens in them. 👎🏻👎🏻 If I’m putting something on my body or on my future child’s body I want to make sure I’m comfortable with the ingredients. I 100% fully approve of every ingredient in the Seedlings wipes which is why I order them every month. I also get points back when I order every month so that’s just an added bonus.
Go scan your wipes and see what’s in them and let me know if you’re ready for a switch! #toxinfreebp
Happy Saturday, friends!
This morning in my stories I showed you what I’m diffusing today and how to fill your diffuser so go check that out! This is the desert mist diffuser that I love so much. We keep it in our kitchen and it’s so pretty. 💗
10 led light settings
Up to 10 hours of run time
3 different settings
Do you have the desert mist diffuser? If not ask me how you can get one!
MALK MONDAY!
When I started my journey to balance my hormones everything I read said to cut dairy so I did. It was HARD! I failed many times actually because nothing is better to me than a glass of cold dairy milk. 😋 I was mostly using milk in cereal at that time. I started using almond milk and over time it got easier as I adjusted to almond milk. At that time I definitely was not drinking a clean almond milk though.
The problem with a lot of milks (dairy and non-dairy) is that a whole bunch of junk is added to them. Things like added sugars, “natural flavors (aka unknown ingredients that may or may not be harmful), all sorts of gums and carrageenan (an additive that is harmful to the digestive system). That’s just to name a few. Once I learned all of this I was bummed because I couldn’t find a “clean” milk. Then came Malk.
I don’t even remember where I saw this first but I’m so happy I found it! The only ingredients are filtered water, organic sprouted almonds and Himalayan salt. That’s it! No gums. No dairy. No fillers. No binders. No gluten. No carrageenan. No added sugar. Certified USDA organic. 👍🏼 I love this stuff! I now use it as my only milk source.
I have slowly been able to add some dairy back into my diet in small amounts so I do still eat small portions of things like sour cream, cream cheese, etc... If you are dairy free definitely check out Malk. They also have pecan and cashew milk as well as some other items. I have found Malk at HEB, Target and Whole Foods personally.
Go check your milk today and tell me if you’re going to find a better one! #toxinfreebp

Do you wash your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher? I do! 🙋🏻♀️ Maybe I’m the odd man out but I have always washed my dishes before putting them in. I just use the dishwasher to really sanitize with steam.
However you wash your dishes you need a good dish soap! I did a quick scan of two popular dish soaps I used to buy at Target. 🤦🏻♀️ They contain fragrance (unknown chemicals that could be harmful in multiple ways), triclosan (concerns with this being: allergy, infertility, impaired muscle function, increased antibiotic resistance and altered thyroid hormone receptor) and DMDM Hydantoin ( a group 1 carcinogen). I personally don’t want these ingredients in my home. I wash dishes every single day which means my body could be exposed to horrible ingredients on a daily basis. I personally use and love Young Living’s Thieves Dish Soap. It doesn’t have any harsh chemicals, dyes or synthetics. It also smells like a fresh blend of lemon and cinnamon.
Do you wash your dishes before the dishwasher? Tell me below! 👇🏼👇🏼 #toxinfreebp
Have you ever been confused when you go to the store and see all sorts of different “organic” labels? I have! Here’s what they mean.
100% Organic with USDA Organic seal: 100% certified organic ingredients and processing aids, no GMOS, all ingredients comply with the National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances, certification required.
Organic with the USDA Organic seal: 95% certified organic ingredients , no GMOs, non-organic ingredients comply with National List, certification required.
Made with Organic Ingredients: USDA organic seal not allowed on these. Ingredient list must specify which ingredients are organic, made with at least 70% organic ingredients, no GMOs, non-organic ingredients comply with National list, certification required.
Organic Ingredients: USDA organic seal not allowed on these. No specific % organic, may contain GMOs, compliance with National List not required, certification not required.
I only buy organic foods and I only buy ones with the USDA seal on them because I just don’t fully trust products without it. One of my favorite USDA certified foods is this hummus. I eat it for breakfast every day. 😋 I love that this is just the HEB brand because organic products are becoming so much more popular that even generic store brands are available!
@just.ingredients recently posted an awesome summary of the strict regulations required with the USDA seal. I’ve screen shotted and posted as the second picture here.
I hope this information helps you at the grocery store! #toxinfreebp
For years I struggled to find the right moisturizer for my skin type. I have oily skin and most moisturizers are way too thick for me. I like a thick night cream but for the daytime I need something light to wear under my makeup.
When the orange blossom moisturizer came out I figured I’d give it a try but it probably wouldn’t work for me just as others hadn’t. I was wrong! I love this stuff so much. I put it on every morning after I wash my face. It doesn’t make my face greasy at all. If you have dry skin this would also work for you as well as it’s great for all skin types.
I love that I can get safer skincare from Young Living. 💗 #toxinfreebp
I have been following @thefoodbabe for a while now & when I saw her second book was coming out I knew I had to read it. I am going to recap some of the takeaways and things I learned but honestly get on Amazon and buy this right now. If you’re one of those people who things organic food is a scam please read this book. You will learn some very unfortunate shocking truths. This caption is so long it won’t all fit here so I’m going to screen shot what won’t fit as pictures.
1. Companies (like Coke, General Mills, etc…) pay an exorbitant amount of $$ to have people come out as “experts” to state their products aren’t bad for you. In this book Vani details very explicitly how they do this and how dishonest they are with swaying science & just outright lying or covering up actual science regarding food.
2. The FDA doesn’t regulate what goes into your food. Companies get to decide what is “safe” for us to eat. What this really means is that they deem things “safe” that allow them to make the most money while they poison us with chemicals and fake food.
3. These same companies also troll health advocates (like @thefoodbabe) even going as far as emailing death threats and stalking them in their homes just because they are trying to expose the truth about our food in America.
4. American food is junk. Ingredients used in our food are banned in other countries or they have to come with a warning label on the product. This goes for junk food too. Example- even a Mountain Dew in Europe is better than a Mountain Dew here. (Not that Mountain Dew is good at all ha)
5. Fake sweeteners are linked to cancer and weight gain—I’m looking at you diet soda drinkers. Aspartame is in this category.
6. When you buy something “low fat” or “fat free” this just means other additives that are horrible for you have been put back into the product to make it taste/feel better due to taking out the fat. Just eat full fat foods- they are better for you. Same goes for “gluten free”. Most of these products have digestive disruptors in it to make up for the lack of gluten so they aren’t doing you any good unless you’re the 1% of people who absolutely cannot have gluten at all.
If you want to know what oil I use every single day- this is it. 💜 I cannot be without Lavender.
I throw about 5 drops into our bedroom diffuser each night and I sleep so well! I’ve always had sleep issues. It’s easy for me to fall asleep but I rarely ever stay asleep through the whole night. Once I started using my lavender consistently I noticed I was waking up less in the night & falling back asleep easier when I did wake up.
Anybody who uses oils will likely say this oil is one of their favorites. They call it the Swiss Army knife of oils because it can be used for so many things like skin issues, cuts/scrapes, sleep, calming abilities, etc... How do you use lavender? 💜

I missed Taco Tuesday but that’s okay because I can eat tacos any day of the week 😉 Tonight we are technically having enchiladas and not tacos but I wanted to share the tortillas I use to make them.
I have fallen in love with Siete products! We eat A LOT of Mexican food so Siete always has our back. I use these tortillas to make our weekly enchiladas! They are grain free, paleo, non GMO, gluten free, dairy free, soy free and vegan. 🙌🏻 They are made with only 5 ingredients and they taste so yummy. I always buy the almond flour ones but they also come in cassava, chickpea or cashew flour varieties.
The old tortillas I used to buy contain:
Folic Acid- If you have the mthfr mutation like I do you shouldn’t eat this as your body can’t process it and turn it into folate so it builds up in your body as a toxin.
Soybean Oil- This mimics estrogen in your body throwing your hormones off. This also contains toxins called anti-nutrients that maybe inhibit the ability for people to digest.
Monoglycerides- These are trans fats disguised under a different name. Something can say 0% trans fat and yet still have this in them.
That’s just 3 ingredients out of many more listed on the package. 🤦🏻♀️ I’d rather eat a tortilla with simple ingredients that won’t harm my body. 👌🏼 #toxinfreebp
I’m a sucker for a cute roller bottle! Headaches come with hormonal issues unfortunately. By eliminating toxins and eating organic foods I’ve been able to drastically reduce mine though. 🙌🏻 When I do get a headache now I no longer immediately reach for Tylenol or Advil though.
Peppermint oil has been my saving grace! When I first heard of oils I was skeptical to be honest 🤔 but when I used peppermint for a headache and it immediately gave me relief I knew these things worked.
Most of the time I just use straight peppermint from the bottle and put it directly on my body but I also love having a cute roller bottle too! This one currently has peppermint and stress away in it.
I always have peppermint in my purse. What’s one oil you constantly carry with you?
Makeup Monday! Is that a thing?! 🤪 If I’m being honest, makeup was one of the hardest things to switch. I have finicky skin and am usually so picky about what I put on it. Switching to this primer was a breeze though.
It never fails that I will break out as soon as I try something new but I didn’t have any issues with that when switching to this primer. Young Living actually has a whole makeup line that is so awesome with clean ingredients. 💗 I’ll try to post more about those products! This primer is the matte one which is perfect for my oily prone skin. There is also a hydrating one if your skin tends to be more dry.
What you put on your skin gets absorbed so you want to make sure there aren’t any yucky ingredients. I workout during the day and this helps my makeup stay on better than it would otherwise. 👍🏼 If you’re wanting to switch your makeup start with primer first. It’s the first thing going on your skin and it covers your whole face. If you don’t wear eyeshadow or lipstick every day then don’t worry about changing those first. Switch out the products you use most often first then go from there. You won’t get overwhelmed that way! #toxinfreebp
🌮🌮🌮If you had to choose between eating tacos every day or being thin for the rest of your life > would you choose hard or soft tacos?
I mentioned these taco shells in my stories over the weekend. I saw them on the shelf during a Whole Foods run and I had been dying to try them so I snagged these.
Folks, these did not disappoint! I truly cannot recommend Siete products enough. Last week I talked about the tortillas that we eat weekly and now these shells will be added to our rotation as well.
Swap out your regular taco shells for these- you won’t regret it! I love knowing that I’m feeding my little family (including Bagel 😉) foods with clean ingredients without having to sacrifice taste.
Happy Taco Tuesday to ya! 🌮❤️
Your skin is your largest organ so if you’re using toxic chemicals on your skin you’re disrupting your whole body.
Check your lotions! If your body lotion has toxins in it it’s time for a switch up! If you have hormone issues or want to lessen your likelihood of getting cancer (isn’t this everyone?) then you need to find a safer alternative. You can’t live in a bubble and avoid all toxins so why not just make sure the products you’re voluntarily choosing are better choices?
I use Young Living’s Genesis body lotion and I am obsessed with it. I tried a few different natural lotions before finding this one and it blows the others out of the water. It’s thick enough to actually nourish my skin but it’s not too thick to where it feels heavy on my body.
I put this on each day after I shower. It smells heavenly too!
Need help knowing if you need to find a better lotion? Shoot me a message! I’m happy to help.
I’m about to give you the easiest and most delicious meal idea!
I’ve used Tessemae’s dressings for a while but I hadn’t ever used this lemon garlic one until a few weeks ago when my friend made this recipe. This chicken was so good I asked her for the recipe and this is it!
Organic chicken- I use 2 pounds roughly
One bottle of this dressing
Salt and pepper
Throw everything in the crock pot and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-7 hours.
We eat this on Siete chips or tortillas. I take the leftovers and have been putting it on a salad. So many ways to eat it! We shred it before we eat it.
The reason this dressing is so good is because it isn’t full of junk. A lot of other marinades/dressings have modified corn starch (GMO ingredient), xantham gum (a thickener that can cause digestive issues), added sugar, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate (preservatives- possibly carcinogenic), soy lecithin (soy can disrupt hormones for some people) and natural flavors (aka unknown ingredients. Natural doesn’t always equal good). I don’t want to be ingesting any of those things personally. Tessamae’s has clean ingredients. It’s USDA certified organic and has no added sugar. 🙌🏻Pick up a bottle next time you go to the grocery store!
Why Young Living? This is a question I get a lot. Why would I buy expensive Young Living oils from an MLM company when I can get oils for $5 at a store? If you’re wondering, let me list some of the reason I personally have chosen to use Young Living products.
1. Young Living owns their farms or partners with farms that are willing to meet their high standards of growing, harvesting and distilling. The quality of YL oils is unmatched.
2. Essential oils you see in a store or on Amazon are mostly aroma grade. This means they might smell good but they don’t offer the same therapeutic and medicinal benefits. They might have some essential oils in them but they also have additives, fillers and synthetics. There only has to be 5% of an oil in a product and it can be labeled 100% pure. This is why they also cost less- because you aren’t paying for a pure oil. Also, on Amazon you truly don’t know what you are getting because there’s a lot of scamming on there unfortunately.
3. YL oils are the only oils I know of that can be actually ingested. Most other oils come with warning labels saying not to ingest- a red flag for me!
4. Most essential oils have expiration dates but YL oils don’t. 100% pure oils will last indefinitely as long as they are stored properly. If you see oils at the store with an expiration date that means it’s not a pure oil.
5. YL products go out of stock sometimes. Why is this a good thing? It means that only the best oils are being used at the right time of the year. If there is a bad batch or something, YL will pull it and not sell it. I’d rather have to wait for something to come back in stock than get a lesser quality product.
6. YL is the only essential oil company with the Seed to Seal process since they control every aspect of production. Go to www.seedtoseal.com to learn more about that. YL’s standards are higher than organic standards.
7. Anyone can visit YL farms around the globe so you can actually see what goes on! (Continued in pictures)
How many of you wear perfume every day? Do you know what you’re spraying on your body?
Perfume= fragrance. Fragrance = unknown chemicals. Companies don’t have to disclose what their “fragrance” is so it could be hundreds of unknown chemicals. These chemicals don’t have to be safe or tested to make sure they are safe. Nope! Companies are allowed to literally put whatever they want and not tell the public because it is considered proprietary information.
Chemicals in fragrance could be carcinogenic, endocrine disrupting or irritating to skin. We also don’t know the long term effects of spraying these chemicals on our body every single day.
I personally wear Valor as perfume every day. It smells so good! 💜💜 Can I be totally honest though? A few years ago my husband got me the most amazing smelling perfume. I love it and he loves it! On occasion I do still wear this for special occasions or date nights. ❤️ However this is not something I do often- I just wanna keep it real though ! I didn’t heal my body by being perfect all the time with toxins. Perfect is unattainable in my opinion.
What do you wear as perfume? Try Valor out if you’re ready to ditch the unknown chemicals. 👍🏼
Most of you probably don’t know this but I’m 1/4 Japanese. 🇯🇵🇯🇵 I grew up eating rice and soy sauce like nobody’s business because of that! I was once a soy sauce snob and would only buy Kikkoman soy sauce. 🍜🍱 I would drown my rice in soy sauce!
Oh how times have changed! I now don’t eat soy at all. 🤷🏻♀️ Why? Dr. Jolene Brighten explains it so well in her book Beyond the Pill. She says, “ soy disrupts hormones... and it’s everywhere! Besides the obvious soy sauce, miso and edamame, soy can be in everything from bread, cookies, and other baked goods to soups and sauces. (Again, read your labels!) Soy can minimize the effects of your natural estrogen, lower your fertility, increase inflammation and lead to issues with adrenal and thyroid function.” Soy can cause issues for our hormones which then affects our whole body. 👎🏻 Luckily there is an alternative though! I LOVE coconut aminos. They have a slightly sweeter taste. 😋 I found this brand at HEB- USDA organic certified 👌🏼 Most grocery stores should carry them!
Seriously- check your labels. Soy is disguised in so many foods. 🤦🏻♀️
Ladies- go check out your makeup products. If you see talc as an ingredient chunk it!
Talc can be contaminated with asbestos. Per the EWG- talc can be contaminated with asbestos fibers, posing risks for respiratory toxicity and cancer. Studies by the National Toxicology Panel demonstrated that cosmetic-grade talc free of asbestos is a form of magnesium silicate that also can be toxic and carcinogenic.
Recently I learned that a company said their talc was asbestos free but really it meant there was no “detectable” asbestos. I don’t know about you but I certainly don’t even want small, undetectable nanoparticles of asbestos put on my face every day. 🤷🏻♀️ Do you?
Check out the second picture which is from a recent article on talc. (Dec. 2018) I say this over and over - be your own advocate! Companies will do what they want and the FDA isn’t regulating cosmetics to make sure they are safe for us.
So what do you do if your makeup has talc? Switch to something safer. I was a little sad when I had to ditch my beloved setting powder that contained talc. 💔 However I couldn’t be happier to have found an alternative! Young Living’s matte setting powder uses mica, not talc. 🙌🏻 Mica is a 2 on ewg. 👌🏼 I apply this after my foundation to help it stay on longer + keep oil away.
If ya need help finding safer makeup reach out!
Every Sunday I make a big batch of baked oatmeal to eat for breakfast for the week. The recipe is super easy and quick to make! I throw in some walnuts and a little dark chocolate too. 😉 I’m pretty picky about what ingredients I use.
I choose gluten free & organic oats. I buy these at Whole Foods. Oats can be sprayed with glyphosate which I do not want to ingest! Glyphosate is EVERYWHERE and it is linked to cancer. It’s sprayed on non-organic crops which is why I choose organic foods. It’s in the atmosphere so unfortunately we can’t escape it but buying organic foods helps lessen our exposure. I like that these are gluten free too. I’m not entirely gluten free but I do choose gluten free foods when there is a choice as well.
I’ll post the recipe in my stories if you want to try it out! It’s made with all clean ingredients and contains no sugar except for the little bit in the dark chocolate chips. 😋
I wish you could smell this through the screen because it smells SO. GOOD. Do you have a product you use that is good for multiple purposes? That’s how this is for me. I use this as a conditioner & a shaving cream!
A lot of shaving creams and conditioners have fragrance and parabens in them. I looked up some popular brands on the Think Dirty app and they were all an 8 or above which is not good at all! I’m so thankful there is a better alternative.
I am super low maintenance with my hair. I cut it about once or twice a year and just let it run wild the rest of the time. 🤷🏻♀️ I have super long/curly hair and I hate when it feels dry or brittle. I tried out a few toxin free conditioners before I found this one and I am so glad I found this one because I love it so much. I apply to the lower half of my hair and let it soak for a few minutes before rinsing out. My hair is so soft with this. 💗 I love the clean ingredients too- and for real, guys this smells so stinking good.
This also doubles as my shaving cream. I’ve always used conditioner as my shaving cream. Why keep up with two different products when one does the trick? 😉
If you need a new conditioner OR shaving cream you have to try this one! 💗💗
How many of you drink carbonated water? Admittedly I don’t drink it THAT often but occasionally I crave carbonation! I don’t like sodas so when I want that throat burn I reach for a Spindrift. 🤪 A lot of carbonated waters contain water and natural flavors. This doesn’t sound too bad, right? Unfortunately it can be! I mean poison ivy is “natural” but that doesn’t mean I want to ingest it you know?
Per Ora.Organic.com “Natural flavors can contain solvents, emulsifiers, and preservatives that aid in separating the natural flavor complex from the original botanical source. Just one natural flavor can contain between 50 to 100 ingredients and yet it's still described as "natural blueberry flavor" to you, the consumer. “
Natural flavors just means the flavor originated from nature. It can then be tampered with in a lab. Natural flavors are meant to add flavor- not nutritional value. I just have an issue with buying groceries without really knowing EXACTLY what is in the product. I read somewhere that one natural flavor is derived from a beaver’s anal gland... no thank you! 🤢 I’ll pass on that!
Lemon Spindrift is one of my favorite flavors. 🍋 It contains just water and lemon juice. 🙌🏻 I also like the grapefruit one as well. Spindrift waters are just water and real fruit juice. 👌🏼 I have found these at most grocery stores I shop at. Add them to your grocery list next time you go to the store!
Pucker up for today’s post! 💋💋 I want to tell you about one of my favorite lipsticks! First off, we’re going to ignore my horrible nails in this photo though. 🤪 I was in the process of ripping off my toxic dip nails when I took this photo!
I don’t wear lipstick every single day but when I do I’m very picky about it. The average woman consumes about 7 pounds of lipstick in her lifetime. 😮 Many traditional lipsticks have fragrance in them. 😞 Again, fragrance= unknown chemicals. True red lipsticks are also sometimes made with ingredients sources from crushed beetles 🤢 and/or synthetic dyes. I think I’ll keep my lips beetle free!
I love the lipstick from Savvy Minerals which is Young Living’s completely clean makeup line. 💗In the past certain lipsticks I’ve worn would either leave my lips dry and cakey or they left a thin film on my lips which felt so gross. This lipstick doesn’t do that at all & it goes on smoothly. 👍🏼 In the second picture I am wearing the shade Uptown Girl.
I wanted to post about this today because all Savvy makeup is 25% until May 17th! I stocked up on some new lipstick and other Savvy goods for myself yesterday. 💋💋💋💋💋
Over the weekend I made pancakes for breakfast because sometimes you just need to eat some pancakes you know? I am still avoiding gluten so of course that means I turned to Simple Mills. I absolutely love their pancake/waffle mix. I normally would make waffles but man, I just HATE cleaning the waffle cleaner so I settled for pancakes.
It’s weird how the two can taste so different, right? I mean they are made of the some ingredients but I typically will choose waffles over pancakes ANY day.
This mix is made of only 7 clean ingredients, which I love. I added my Malk almond milk, some organic coconut oil & a few organic/cage free eggs to make these. So yummy! These are gluten free, gum free, dairy free, soy free, non GMO and paleo friendly.
Which do you prefer- pancakes or waffles?
I definitely have several favorite Young Living products, but this one is at the top of that list. If you aren’t already using Thieves, what are you doing with your life?! I’m only partially kidding.
Seriously this stuff is so amazing. A lot of traditional multi-purpose cleaners have fragrance as an ingredient. Once again, fragrances can be up to hundreds of unknown chemicals that companies use. These could be carcinogenic or hormone disrupting amongst other things. Do you want to clean your house and then have your kids/dogs exposed to harmful chemicals?
I didn’t think so! I hear a lot of people say that Thieves is what really got them to fall in love with Young Living. This cleaner does it ALL. Honestly, even besides the non-toxic aspect, this stuff smells like pure Heaven and I love making my house smell like it!
I actually use this stuff daily. I wipe down my counters with it every night. I use it for my floors, countertops, doorknobs, toilets, bathtub/shower, sinks, handles, mirrors, stovetop… literally everything.
It is extremely concentrated so a bottle will lasts a long time as well which is a major perk for those looking to fit within a budget.
I put together a little online, read at your own pace (free) class that will start tonight. If you want in shoot me a message or comment below. There are so many Thieves products that I use so I want to let YOU know about them.
If you already use Thieves- comment below so everyone can see how you use it!
Ladies, this post is for you.
When I switched to a toxin-free life one of the first products I changed was actually my tampons. When you think of a tampon you might just think it’s a good ole’ piece of cotton but that’s not always the case. Per WellnessMama.com, some tampons (and pads) do contain cotton but most contain rayon, a synthetic material. There is some evidence that synthetic fibers can pull too much moisture from the vaginal walls and stick to the soft skin there, leaving tiny synthetic fibers that may increase the risk of TSS, Toxic Shock Syndrome. Additionally, tampons and pads are usually bleached with chlorine or other chemicals.
Cotton is one of the dirtiest crops and it is often sprayed with a variety of pesticides. Applicators are also usually made with non- BPA free plastic. I don’t know about you but I personally don’t want chemicals, chlorine or pesticides put in a sensitive area of my body.
I was introduced to Lola a few years ago. They have a whole assortment of products for ya. Lola tampons are free from synthetic fibers, chemical additives, fragrance, dyes, chlorine bleach, GMOs, pesticides, toxins, latex and formaldehyde. They are made with 100% organic cotton. For only $10 a month (free shipping) you can get these delivered to your house and don’t ever have to think about remembering to buy them.
I have been waiting to share this post and I’m so excited about it! I have followed @drjolenebrighten for a while on Instagram and I finally just finished her book. This book is for ALL women. Whether you use birth control or not, this book is for you! Don’t let the title make you think this book isn’t for you if you use birth control.
Y’all know a little bit of my history with birth control and how I will never voluntarily take it again. If you haven’t read “My Why” post, go to the link in my profile and check it out. This will give you a little bit of my personal background with the pill.
I am going to outline some of the things I learned while reading this book. Honestly, this only scratches the surface. There is SO much information in the book so please go buy it and read it! I just want to give some highlights. I’m just going to list out some of the things in the book. These are all from the book- so all credit goes to Dr. B. This isn’t my own research.
1. A doctor prescribing the pill to address a hormone symptom is like taking a painkiller for a splinter instead of just removing the splinter.
2. 60% of women on the pill take it for symptoms. A lot of doctors don’t investigate the root cause of the symptoms. Symptoms are your body’s way of trying to tell you something so they should be investigated.
3. If just one hormone is out of whack it can wreck your whole body.
4. When you take a week of placebo pills, you aren’t actually getting a period because you didn’t ovulate. The bleeding you have is withdrawal bleeding.
5. Post Birth Control Syndrome is the collection of sings and symptoms that arise when you stop taking the pill. These can range from headaches, mood swings, anxiety, depression, acne, loss of menstruation, pill induced PCOS, infertility, hypothyroidism, leaky gut and immune related symptoms. These symptoms aren’t your body revolting; this is your body speaking up after being stifled by the pill for so long.
6. Your liver has to work overtime to process synthetic hormones sot hey can be moved out by your gut.
7. The pill isn’t really fixing your issues. It is only shutting down your entire reproductive system.
This little oil supports liver cleansing & is the reason I’ve been able to increase my water intake. There are a few oils from Young Living that can be ingested and this is one of them. Note: if it’s not a Young Living specific oil- don’t ingest it! I fill my Yeti with hot water every morning and throw a few drops of Lemon in there. So good! Something about hot 🍋 water just starts my day off right. 💛💛
Did anybody get too much sun this weekend? I for sure did!
I was so great about packing my sunscreen... but not so great about wearing it. 🤦🏻♀️ Whoops! My husband and I went fishing on Saturday and I thought it would just be for a short while so I didn’t put sunscreen on and that proved to be a mistake. My poor legs and shoulders are fried & the worst part is that I had sunscreen with me! I just didn’t realize how burned I was getting until it was too late.
Luckily I had thrown this spray in my bag as I was packing because it came in so handy! This little cooling mist is a mixture of aloe vera + essential oils. It has been feeling SO good on my poor skin. If you are prone to sunburns or any other skin irritations or bug bites- get this stuff ASAP! It’s so cooling and I don’t ever want to be without it.
I did catch a nice fish during this outing so at least the burn was worth it. 😉 Next time I’ll for sure be using my sunscreen though!
I cook dinner at least 5 nights a week and I love easy meals. We typically eat chicken or ground beef + veggies/carbs. I like to switch things up with different spices and sauces. As you know, I’m pretty picky about what I cook with.
I love this Paleo Powder on top of chicken. I don’t mind using individual spices , but sometimes the lazy in me just likes to have it already combined so I only have to grab one spice jar.
Unfortunately a lot of spices can have additional chemicals/additives added to them. Paleo Powder doesn’t have any of that- it’s just 8 different spices! It is gluten free and doesn’t have any sugar or MSG. You can use this on top of a variety of things including pork, chicken, eggs, veggies, etc…. I also love that this is a Texas made product! I have switched over a lot of my spices to organic but while this isn’t organic, it’s still good in my book because it’s so clean!
Check out your spice rack— are there spices with added chemicals? If so- toss them!
When deciding to switch to a non-toxic lifestyle you have to really look at ALL the products you’re using. You might think to change the toner you put on your face but not think about the cotton ball that you put the toner on to then wipe your face.
Cotton is one of the dirtiest crops. Per Organicconsumers.org, “At a production rate of 25 million tons a year, cotton is one of the top four GMO crops in the world—and nearly 95 percent of that global cotton production is GMO and/or conventionally grown. Cotton earned the title “dirtiest crop” because it’s sprayed with some of the worst pesticides, including: Bayer’s aldicarb, which was banned in the U.S. in 2010, but reapproved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 2016; Syngenta’s paraquat, a highly toxic pesticide banned in the European Union but not in the U.S.; and Monsanto’s glyphosate, classified by the World Health Organization as a “probable” human carcinogen.” You can help reduce your exposure by buying USDA certified organic cotton balls. I bought this bag at Whole Foods. Earlier in the week in my stories I explained how changing my products drastically made a difference in my life and with my symptoms. Making these little changes one at a time truly makes a big impact!
