Can we call a spade a spade already? Allergy season makes the drug industry a lot of money while it attempts to cover up the time of year when Mon-San-To products are heavily used on all of the greenery around us.

The city treats parks & public grasses & fields. People start getting their lawns ready for gardening & florals. Schools, golf clubs & business properties start getting their grass prepped. It’s basically a chemical bomb all spring as people rush to keep up with season shifts & outdoor life.

Your “allergy” symptoms are your body’s way of informing you that it is essentially being poisoned. It’s not pollen at large. It’s not nature at large.

Things that can help counter pesticide & lawn care chemicals:

Herbs & roots: clover, lemon verbana, ginger, burdock, green tea, mullein, lemon balm, astragalus, garlic & nettle.

Vitamins & Minerals: NAC, liposomal glutathione, alpha lipoic acid, quercetin, b complex, magnesium. Also enzymes & bromelain to break down congestion in lungs & nasal pathways.

Also detoxing materials such as coconut shell charcoal, epsom salt baths, Dead Sea salts, Bentonite clay, zeolite & Spirulina, dry brushing & red light sauna sweating.

Foods; lemon/lime water, tamarind, pineapple, papaya, grapefruit, Himalayan salts, rAw dairy & egg yolks, greens.

Mushrooms like @cultivateelevate2 6 mix can also break down & draw out pesticides in the system. You can use code SimpleOrganix for discount & free shipping on all duos and trios.

A good pre, pro & post biotic is also crucial. I love dr ohirra professional formula. You can also find this on iHerb.com and use code VUD646 for a discount there.

These are all things that should be integrated all spring. 💎

Also transition to clean non toxic lawncare products such as ecosmart & ecologic which use essential oils such as thyme, rosemary & oregano.

ALLERGIES 😤! I have a post coming up soon for seasonal relief and support of allergies. I know people are struggling hard core with them right now!

But before we go there, I wanted to touch on root cause of seasonal allergies. Of course there’s going to be various root causes, but research tell us that GUT HEALTH absolutely impacts allergies.

🤧The gut lining is one cell thick. It is designed to be semi permeable to allow appropriate particles into the bloodstream. However, when that lining becomes damaged (by certain drugs, toxins, glyphosate, etc.) — it can become leaky and allow unwanted particles into the blood stream. This can then trigger immune responses!

🤧 Having a healthy microbiome protects the gut lining. This means a lifestyle that is rich in real food (not full of chemicals) and even low(er) stress is important to the microbiome and the gut lining. What we eat matters!! REAL food feeds the good bacteria.

🤧 This is because sugar + processed foods allow the more harmful bacteria to thrive, which ultimately leads to leaky gut. As do the chemicals we absorb, eat, breathe, drink! Reducing toxic burden impacts your gut health.

🤧 Evidence suggests that allergies and gut health are linked. The findings reveal that the microbiomes of the lung and gut contribute to the pathogenesis of asthma and allergy. For example, evidence indicates that the microbiome of the gut regulates the activities of helper T cell subsets (Th1 and Th2) that affect the development of immune tolerance.

HOW TO SUPPORT GUT HEALTH

🔸 Maximize real foods
🔸 Maximize prebiotic foods
🔸 Minimize household toxins
🔸 Minimize toxic body products
🔸 Filter air + water to remove toxins
🔸 Avoid antibiotics unless needed
🔸 Minimize + reduce stress
🔸 Exercise regularly
🔸 Get your rest!!
🔸 Consider @ionbiome

There are other root causes, like an over reactive immune system or liver congestion. And many other drugs impact the gut besides antibiotics! But the bottom line is that gut health basically impacts everything — including allergies.

Allergies are the 6th leading cause of chronic illness in the US with over 50 million people saying they have one or more allergies.

There has been a sharp increase in the amount of people diagnosed with allergies over the last several decades…and with that a large increase in the amount of allergy medications used. Johnson & Johnson made $348 billion dollars in 2018 on Zyrtec alone!

I personally am okay with the occasional use of pharmaceutical drugs when needed! But are allergy medications safe to be taking long term?

Some side effects of common allergy medications include:

✖️drowsiness
✖️dry mouth
✖️constipation
✖️restlessness
✖️nightmares
✖️irritability
✖️nosebleeds
✖️hypertension
✖️tachycardia
✖️muscle weakness
✖️sleep disturbances

✖️Research also supports a possible link to dementia. Infants are at increased risk for ADHD. Some decongestants can cause “rebound rhinitis,” meaning it can make the congestion worse over time and cause you to become dependent on the medicine.
