HEAD INJURIES

We've all been there. Your child is playing and then the dreadful thud followed by a shrill cry or worse...silence.

As a Registered Nurse who spent 4 years working on a neurological unit at a high acuity university hospital I've cared for patients with the worst of the worst head injuries and let me tell you it is something you want to try and avoid at all costs. The brain is the control center and any damage to it can cause a lifetime of problems.

Here is a breakdown of what to watch for if your child hits their head, meant to serve as a guide of sorts. Save it for future reference and let’s hope you never have to use it, however I do hope it is useful.

What has your experience been with brain injury? I got a concussion as an adult once and it messed me up for a good couple months. #erinshealthtalks
