SEED OILS
The American Heart Association accepted donations from an industry that profits off of the recommendations that it has given over the past 50 years… this has led to an INCREASE in heart disease that the AHA continues to blame animal fat for, while inflammatory seed oils are the ones to blame. Ancel Keys is the one who delivered the diet heart hypothesis that the American people have been led to believe for too long. Unfortunately a follow up experiment (the Minnesota Coronary Experiment) went unpublished for many years which DISPROVED this hypothesis completely.
Our bodies were not designed to burn PUFAs… these inflammatory seed oils build up in our bodies, cause inflammation, and cause us to not be able to burn fat as well. This makes our bodies require more sugar and carbs to burn and essentially makes us addicted to carbs and sugar. PUFAs create a carbohydrate addiction at a cellular level and yet… PUFAs are the main oils used in foods today.
If you go to a restaurant, most likely a PUFA is used. If you are eating processed foods, most likely a PUFA is in there, even organic processed foods. These inflammatory oils have been linked to Type 2 Diabetes, infertility and other menstrual problems, brain fog and cognition issues, liver congestion, asthma and other reactive and inflammatory diseases.
It is impossible to avoid PUFAs and they are needed by the body in small quantities but not anywhere near where we eat them.
There was no testing to see if these oils were safe for human consumption before they started promoting them either.
PUFAs are unstable, easily oxidized, and pro inflammatory. They are associated with hormone and immune system damage as well as heart disease, obesity, and cancer.
…and yet the AHA continues to promote them.
Eat grass fed butter and tallow. Limit processed foods when possible but don’t think you can completely avoid PUFAs…. Eat whole non processed foods the way God made them and you will be good to go!
See PUFA highlight for more info. One last thing. I DONT STRESS about this. We do still eat PUFA containing organic food from time to time. The key is controlling what you can at home, limiting eating out all the time....
